Biography: James O’Bryan began his media career in theatre as a production assistant with the Canadian Stage Company. He then turned his attention toward film and three years later, graduated with honors from the Film and Television Production program at Humber College. During this time, James also received a certificate from the Canadian Society of Cinematographers (CSC) and the Kenneth Post Achievement Award from Humber College.

Upon graduating, James took a turn from production to post-production and joined the Canadian Film Centre (CFC) as their Post and Technical Coordinator. After two seasons with the CFC, he decided to branch out on his own and is currently running a successful post-production company. Through his company, Koan Post Production, James now enjoys the diversity of editing both picture and sound as well as providing post-production coordination and supervisory services on a freelance basis.

Over the last few years, James has been fortunate enough to work on several major projects and has built not only a strong body of work but also, long-lasting relationships with many talented and wonderful people within the Toronto film community.

Spring Note: James is the unsung hero of post and was so on top of the 2K workflow… no easy feat to account for 3-D rendering time at a farm in Germany. His best game-saving move was catching a fatal sound output error on the master layback… earned a Spring gold medal.
